Then Satan whispered to them (planted suggestions in their minds) to display to them what was kept back from them of their shame (they felt shame or guilt for the first time), and he said, "your Lord has only forbidden you this tree lest you should become angels, or should become of the immortals. "
22
And so he beguiled them by deceit. And when the twain had tasted of the Tree, their shame was manifested unto them, and they began to sew upon themselves the leaves of the Garden (to hide their shame, nakedness. rebelliousness or sinfulness) And their Lord called unto them, "Did I not forbid you that tree, and say to you, that verily, Satan is to you an open foe?"

Say, "Who has prohibited the beautiful adornments (gifts) of Allah which He brought forth for His servants, and the good things He has provided?" Say, "On the Day (of Resurrection and Judgment) they shall only be for those who believed when they were in the life of this world. " Thus do We detail the Signs (revelations) unto a people who have understanding.
33
Say, "My Lord has only forbidden abominable (shameful) deeds, the apparent and the concealed, and sin (errors), and greed for that which is not right (trespasses against truth and reason), and associating with Allah that for (or to) which He has given no authority (or power), and saying about Allah that of which you have no knowledge. "

Who is more unjust than he who devises a lie against Allah, and scorns His Signs (or revelations)? For such, their portion of the Book (of Destiny) shall reach them, until, when Our Messengers come to take their souls away, and say, "Where is now what you used to rely upon instead of Allah?" They reply, "They have departed from us. " And they shall bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers (rejecters of truth).
38
He will say, "Enter you the Fire amongst the nations (communities) who have passed away before you - both of jinn and men. " Whenever a nation (community) enters therein, it curses its sister (nation, community); until, when they have followed each other into the Fire, the last of them will say about the first, "O our Lord! These it was who led us astray, give them a double penalty of the Fire!" He will say, "Double for each of you!" But this you do not understand.

We will strip away what rancour (ill feeling) is in their breasts. There shall flow beneath them Rivers, and they shall say, "Praise belongs to Allah who guided us to this! For we should not have been led aright had not Allah guided us! Verily, the Messenger of our Lord did come to us with truth!" And they shall hear the cry, "Behold, the Garden which you have as an inheritance for that which you used to do!"
44
And the Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire, "We have now found that what our Lord promised us is true; have you also found that what your Lord promised you is true?" They will say, "Yea!" And a crier from amongst them will cry out, "The curse of Allah is on the unjust,

Do they just wait now for its fulfilment (or interpretation)? On the day when its fulfilment shall come, those who forgot it before will say, "Indeed, there did come to us the Messenger of our Lord in truth. Have we no intercessors now to intercede for us? Or, could we return, we would behave otherwise than we did in the past." But they have lost their souls, and that which they devised has strayed away from them.

Verily, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days; then mounted He the Throne (of Authority and Power). He covers night with the day - it pursues it incessantly- and the sun and the moon and the stars are subject to His command. Aye! - His is the Creation and the Commandment - Blessed be Allah the Lord of the Worlds!

Marvel you then that there comes to you a Reminder from your Lord by a man from amongst you, to warn you? Remember when He made you vicegerents (or inheritors) after Noah's people, and gave you growth of stature (prosperity, honour, excellence). Remember, then, the bounties of your Lord, that per chance (or possibly) you may be successful!"

Unto the people of Thamud We sent Salih, one of their own brethren. He said, "O my people! Serve (or worship) Allah; you have no God but Him. There has come to you a manifest Sign from your Lord. This is Allah's she-camel, a sign (or test) unto you; so leave her to feed in Allah's land, and touch her not with evil, or there will overtake you grievous woe.

And unto Median did We send their brother Shu'eyb (Jethro?), who said, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God save Him. There has come to you a manifest Sign from your Lord. So give good weight and full measure, and be not niggardly of your good works (or of the gifts you have received) to mankind, and do not evil in the earth after it has been rightly ordered. That is better for you if you are believers.

"We shall have devised a lie against Allah if we return unto your faith, after Allah has saved us from it; and what should ail us that we should return thereto, unless that Allah our Lord should please? Our Lord is All-comprehending in His knowledge. In Allah do we place our trust. Our Lord! Decide with truth between us and our people, for you are the best of those who decides.

And We gave unto a people, despised and weak, an inheritance, lands in both east and west, lands which We had blessed. And the good promise of your Lord was fulfiled on the children of Israel, because they were patient and constant. And We utterly destroyed all the works which Pharaoh and his people had done and that which they had devised.

And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke unto him, he said, "O my Lord! Show me Thyself, that I may look on Thee!" Allah said, "Thou canst not see Me; but look upon the mountain. If it remains steady in its place, you have seen Me;" But when his Lord appeared unto the mountain He made it dust, and Moses fell down in a swoon! And when he woke he said, "Glory unto Thee! I turn repentant unto Thee, and I am the foremost of those who believe."

I will turn from My revelations those who wrongfully magnify themselves with pride in the earth; and though they see every Sign, they shall not believe therein, and if they see the path of rectitude they shall not take it for their path; but if they see the path of error they shall choose it for their path - that is because they deny Our revelations and have ignored them. "
147
148
And the people of Moses, after he had left them, chose (for worship) an image of a lowing calf (or one that seemed to low) made out of their ornaments. Did they not see that it could not speak to them or guide them in the path? They chose it and became wrongdoers (or unjust, unreasonable, irrational, superstitious people).
149
150
And when Moses returned unto his people angry and grieved, he said, "Evil is it that which you have done after I had gone! Would you hasten on the judgment of your Lord?". And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by the (hair on his) head, dragging him towards him. But he (Aaron) protested, saying, "O son of my mother! Verily, the people deemed me weak (or of no account) and well nigh killed me. Make not mine enemies rejoice about me (my humiliation), and count me not with the unjust (evildoing, irrational) people.

And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment; and when the earthquake took them he prayed, "O my Lord! Had you willed, you could have destroyed both them and me before this. Will Thou destroy us for what the fools amongst us have done? This is naught but Thy trial, wherewith Thou dost lead astray whom Thou pleases and guides whom Thou please; Thou art our patron! Forgive us and have mercy on us, for Thou art the best of those who forgive!

Those who follow the Messenger - the unlettered Prophet - whom they find mentioned in their own Law and Gospel. (Deuteronomy18 and Johnbidding them what is just (reasonable) and forbidding them what is wrong (evil, unreasonable, stupid); and making lawful for them what is good (pure), and making unlawful evil (impure) things. He releases them from their heavy burdens and yokes which were upon them. So it is those who believe in him and honour and help him and follow the Light which has been sent down with him - it is they who are the successful (or shall prosper)."

Say, "O you people! Verily, I am the Messenger of Allah unto you all, of Him whose is the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, there is no God but He! He gives life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered (or not learned, unsophisticated) prophet, - who believes in Allah and in His Words - then follow him that per chance (or possibly) you may be guided."

And We divided them into twelve tribes, nation; and We inspired Moses, when his people asked him for water, saying, "Strike the rock with your staff!" and there gushed forth from it twelve springs, so that each tribe knew their drinking place. And We overshadowed them with the cloud; and sent down upon them the manna and the quails, saying, "Eat of the good things We have provided you with!"- They did not wrong Us but it was themselves they were wont to wrong.

But after them a generation succeeded them who inherited the Book (Scriptures)! They chose the vanities of this lower world, saying, "Everything will be forgiven us. " But if similar vanities came to them again they would seize them too! Was there not taken from them a covenant by the Book, that they should not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth? Yet they study what is therein! But the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who fear - do you not then understand?

Had We pleased We would have exalted him thereby (with Our Signs), but he clung to the earth and followed his own lust, and his likeness was as the likeness of a dog, whom if you should attack he hangs out his tongue, or if you should leave him, hangs out his tongue too. Such is the likeness of the people who say our Signs (revelations) are lies. Tell them then these tales - per chance (or possibly) they may reflect.

They will ask you about the (final) Hour, for what time it is fixed? - Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with my Lord; none shall manifest it at its time but He. Heavy is its burden in the heavens and the earth. It will come to you suddenly and unawares." They question you as though you were informed of it (or eagerly searching for it). Say," Knowledge thereof is with Allah only, but most people know not."

He it is who created you from a single soul, and made there from its mate to dwell with her (in comfort and love); and when he covered her she bore a light burden, and went about therewith (unnoticed); but when it grew heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying, "Surely if you give us a well-formed child, we shall be forever thankful.
